This is a hand-carved, obsidian blade from the land of the Maya.

Ixchel (pronounced Ishchel) was the Mayan moon goddess. She also was the patroness of femininity - representing love, gestation, medicine, water and of the textile arts. Ixchel’s name means “large rainbow” or “rainbow woman”. Ixchel was considered to be the most powerful Mayan goddess because of her ability to give life and heal both humans and nature. Ixchel was constantly connected with rabbits; symbolizing fertility, new beginnings and transformation.
