Pisces Full Moon (Lunar Eclipse)

There are times when the Moon asks us to celebrate, & there are times when she asks us to release. This Pisces Full Moon (arriving together with a powerful lunar eclipse) feels like a sacred invitation to do both.

Tonight, the Moon reaches fullness in Pisces, the final sign of the zodiac, while the Earth moves between the Sun & Moon, casting her shadow across the lunar surface. The eclipse will be visible across much of the Americas, with the Moon becoming deeply shadowed & taking on a reddish glow at its peak.

For me, there is something deeply meaningful about watching the Earth herself place a shadow upon the Moon. It reminds us that even the light must sometimes pass through darkness before we can see it differently.

A Time of Completion

A Full Moon is a time of illumination. What has been growing beneath the surface begins to reveal itself. Emotions, truths, relationships, dreams, & situations that have been building over time may come into clearer view. But this Full Moon is not simply a Full Moon. It is also an eclipse, & eclipses have a way of turning up the volume.

They can bring moments of realization, endings, revelations, & shifts that we may not have consciously planned. They often show us where we have outgrown an old way of being & where life is asking us to move forward.

This particular eclipse is the final lunar eclipse along the Virgo-Pisces axis of the current eclipse cycle, making it especially meaningful for themes of surrender, healing, service, spirituality, daily life, & the balance between caring for ourselves & caring for others. Sometimes what leaves our lives is leaving because it has completed its purpose.

The Lunar Eclipse

A lunar eclipse occurs during a Full Moon when the Earth passes between the Sun & the Moon, causing Earth's shadow to fall upon the Moon. In tonight's eclipse, the Moon will pass deeply into Earth's shadow, creating a partial lunar eclipse. At its greatest point, approximately 96% of the Moon's disk will be covered by Earth's darkest shadow, & the Moon may appear reddish in the night sky.

There is beautiful symbolism here.

The Moon represents our inner world, like our emotions, intuition, memories, dreams, & the parts of ourselves that we do not always show to the outside world. When the Earth's shadow crosses the Moon, we are given an image of what happens within us when something hidden moves into awareness.

The shadow does not destroy the Moon, it simply passes over it. This is one of the teachings of the eclipse … We can experience darkness without becoming darkness.

We can sit with grief without becoming grief. We can acknowledge fear without allowing fear to guide our lives. We can look at old wounds without returning to the place where those wounds were created.

The shadow comes, & the shadow passes.

The Mystical Waters of Pisces

Pisces is a water sign, & water teaches us about movement. Water does not need to force its way through every obstacle. It finds another path. It flows around stones. It changes shape. It moves between places. It remembers how to return to the ocean.

Pisces carries this same wisdom.

This is a sign associated with intuition, compassion, dreams, imagination, spirituality, surrender, healing, & the unseen world. Pisces reminds us that not everything meaningful can be measured, explained, or understood by the mind.

Sometimes the heart knows before the mind catches up.

Sometimes the body knows.

Sometimes the ancestors speak through dreams, through signs, through memories, through the quiet feeling that arrives when we are finally still enough to hear it.

This Full Moon invites us into that stillness.

At the same time, the Pisces Moon stands opposite the Virgo Sun, creating a beautiful tension between the spiritual & the practical. Virgo asks us to tend to the details, our responsibilities, our bodies, our homes, & our daily lives. Pisces asks us to remember the soul beneath all of those responsibilities.

We need both.

A spiritual life must still have roots in the Earth.

A dream must eventually find a place to live.

A prayer must eventually become an action.

What This Eclipse May Bring

This eclipse carries an energy of revelation & release. Astrologically, it is also connected with Uranus in Gemini, creating an unpredictable quality that can bring sudden insights, unexpected information, changes of direction, or moments that wake us up to something we have been avoiding.

This does not mean that something dramatic must happen for every person. Sometimes the greatest eclipse moment is internal. Something simply becomes clear, or a pattern that has repeated for years suddenly makes sense. Perhaps we realize that we have been holding onto something because we were afraid of what would happen if we let it go.

This energy may encourage us to:

• Release old emotional patterns and attachments

• Listen more deeply to intuition and dreams

• Allow truths to surface without immediately judging them

• Reconsider where our energy is being given away

• Create space for something new to enter

• Bring our spiritual life into greater harmony with our everyday life

How to Navigate These Waters

We live in a world that constantly tells us to move faster, respond immediately, make decisions, produce, accomplish, & keep going. But the wisdom of Pisces is different.

Pisces says … Pause. Feel. Listen.

If emotions rise, allow them to move through you. If you need to cry, cry. If you need to sleep, rest. If you need to be alone, give yourself that sacred space. If something becomes clear tonight, you do not necessarily need to act on it immediately. Clarity is a gift, but wisdom is knowing when to move & when to wait.

Spend time near water if you can. Take a bath. Sit beneath the Moon. Journal. Pray. Make an offering. Light a candle. Put your bare feet upon the Earth. Let yourself dream without needing to immediately turn the dream into a plan.

Most importantly, do not be afraid of what you discover within yourself. The parts of us that need healing are not our enemies. They are the places asking for love.

A Word of Wisdom

I have learned through many years of walking this Earth that we cannot hold onto everything forever.

There are people who come into our lives for a season. There are dreams that change shape. There are paths we once believed were meant for us that eventually lead somewhere else.

This is not failure. This is life.

As this Full Moon rises and the shadow of the Earth moves across her face, I invite us to remember that we are part of this great mystery.

We are Earth.

We are water.

We are the stars.

We are memory.

May this Pisces Moon soften what has become hardened within us.

May the eclipse reveal only what we are ready to see.

May old burdens be lifted from our hearts.

May the waters of our emotions be cleansed and renewed.

& when the Moon emerges from the Earth's shadow, may we remember that the light was never gone.

It was simply passing through darkness.
