The Harvest Moon
There are moments in the turning of the seasons when the Earth asks us to pause & take notice. We feel the days growing shorter, the air beginning to change, & the natural world slowly preparing for a time of rest. The Full Moon in Aries arrives on September 26, just days after the Fall Equinox, bringing us into this sacred threshold between seasons. This is our Harvest Moon, a powerful time to reflect upon what has grown within our lives, what is ready to be gathered, & what we are being called to release before entering a new season.

This Full Moon carries a particular fire. September has been a month of movement, reflection, endings, beginnings, & significant shifts in the heavens. One astrological doorway after another has opened before us, each bringing its own teaching & preparing us for this moment.
The New Moon at the beginning of the month encouraged us to tend to the details of our lives & bring greater order to what may have become scattered.
Uranus turning retrograde invited us to reconsider the changes taking place within us & around us.
Chiron returning to Aries brought attention to old wounds surrounding identity, courage, independence, & our sense of self.
Then, with the Fall Equinox, the Sun entered Libra & brought us to a point of balance between light & darkness.
Now, the Full Moon rises in Aries, bringing all of these themes into greater illumination.
It feels as though September has been gathering everything together for this moment and asking us a simple but powerful question … What will we do with what we have learned?

The Fire of Aries
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. It carries the energy of beginnings, courage, movement, independence, identity, & the sacred spark that says, I am here. When the Moon becomes full in Aries, these themes can become especially strong. A Full Moon illuminates what has been growing beneath the surface, bringing emotions, realizations, desires, & truths into our awareness. With Aries, there can be a strong desire to move forward, to reclaim our direction, & to finally take action on something that has been waiting within us.
But the wisdom of this Full Moon is not simply about acting quickly. Aries teaches us about courage, & true courage is not the same as impulsiveness. There is a difference between moving from the wisdom of the heart & reacting from anger, fear, or frustration. This Full Moon may bring strong emotions to the surface, but we are being asked to become conscious of our fire rather than allowing that fire to control us.
The Sun is now in Libra, creating an important balance between the self & our relationships with others.
Aries asks, What do I need? Who am I? What am I ready to begin?
Libra asks, How do I honor others while remaining true to myself? How do I create harmony without abandoning my own truth?
These two energies remind us that individuality and community do not have to exist in opposition. We can carry our own sacred fire while still honoring the light carried by another.

The Meaning of the Harvest Moon
The Full Moon closest to the Autumnal Equinox is traditionally known as the Harvest Moon. Its name comes from the agricultural cycles of the past, when the bright light of the Full Moon provided additional evening light for farmers gathering their crops before the arrival of the darker, colder months.
But when I think of the word harvest, I think of something much deeper than the gathering of crops. Harvest is a time of recognizing what has been cultivated. Every seed carries a promise, but that promise requires care. It must be planted, watered, protected, & given the proper conditions to grow. Eventually, there comes a time when we must gather what the Earth has provided.
Our lives are much the same.
Throughout the year, we plant many kinds of seeds. Some are dreams, relationships, prayers, intentions, or lessons born from difficult experiences. We do not always know which seeds will grow, & not everything we plant will become what we imagined. Yet even the seeds that do not produce the harvest we expected can teach us something.
The Harvest Moon gives us an opportunity to look at our lives with honesty & gratitude. There is great wisdom in understanding that not every seed is meant to bloom immediately. Some seeds must rest beneath the soil. Some must wait through the winter. Some are saved so that they can be planted again when the conditions are right. We, too, have seasons of growth & seasons of rest.
What Will Awaken
The energy surrounding this Full Moon may bring a renewed desire for independence, movement, creativity, & personal truth. You may feel inspired to begin something new, make an important decision, set a boundary, or finally take a step that has been delayed. Others may find themselves becoming more aware of where they have been giving their power away or living according to expectations that no longer feel true.
Because Aries carries such strong forward-moving energy, we may also feel more impatient than usual. Things that we have tolerated for a long time may suddenly feel impossible to ignore. Emotions may rise quickly, & words may come more easily. This can be a powerful opportunity for honesty, but it is also a reminder to pause before reacting.
I often believe that the Earth teaches us the wisdom of timing. A seed does not force itself through the soil before it is ready. The river does not need to fight the mountain; it finds another way. The butterfly does not rush the process of becoming.
So if this Full Moon brings a strong desire for change, listen to that desire, but listen deeply. Ask whether the fire is coming from fear or from knowing. Ask whether the impulse is asking for immediate action or simply asking to be acknowledged. Sometimes the most courageous thing we can do is pause long enough to hear the deeper message beneath our emotions.
Aries also reminds us that we are allowed to begin again.
Beginning again does not mean forgetting everything that came before. It means carrying the wisdom forward without allowing the past to determine every step of the future. We can honor where we have been while still choosing where we are going. This is especially meaningful at the Harvest Moon because harvest is not only about gathering what has grown. It is also about saving the seeds for what comes next.

What Are You Carrying Forward?
As we stand beneath this Full Moon, I encourage us to think about the seeds we want to carry into the coming season. At the same time, allow yourself to release what has completed its purpose. The Earth knows when it is time to let go. She does not apologize for changing seasons, she simply follows the wisdom written into her nature.
We can learn from this.
There may be things in our lives that we have been trying to hold onto simply because they are familiar. There may be identities, expectations, fears, or old stories that no longer belong to the person we are becoming. The Harvest Moon offers us a beautiful moment to acknowledge them, give thanks for whatever they have taught us, & allow them to return to the Earth.
When we release what is finished, we make room for what is beginning.
A New Season Begins
The Aries Full Moon arrives with the energy of a spark. It reminds us that every new beginning starts somewhere, often with something very small: a thought, a prayer, a decision, a moment of courage, or a quiet knowing within the heart.
We do not need to know the entire path before taking the first step.
As this Moon shines above us, we honor everything this year has taught us. We recognize the harvest that exists not only in our accomplishments, but also in the wisdom gained through hardship, change, loss, love, & growth. We have the courage to gather what is nourishing & release what has completed its purpose.
May we tend the sacred fire within us with care.
May our courage be guided by wisdom rather than reaction.
May we speak our truth without causing harm.
May we remember that our individual light is not diminished when we make room for another's light to shine.
And as we move deeper into this new season, may we trust the wisdom of the Earth.
~ Blessings!
