Today we are gifted a very special celestial event: the New Moon in Virgo, which also happens to be a Black Moon. This is a rare and powerful moment, one that carries deep medicine for our journeys. The New Moon has always been a time to pause, set intentions, and plant seeds within our spirit that we wish to see bloom in the cycles ahead. When the New Moon arrives as a Black Moon, it magnifies this energy, opening a sacred doorway for profound renewal, release, and rebirth.
The Black Moon occurs when we experience two New Moons in the same calendar month or when there are no Full Moons in a month. It is a rare occurrence, a reminder from the Universe that the cycles of time and the dance of the heavens do not always follow what is common. In this way, the Black Moon invites us to embrace the uncommon, the mystery, and the unseen blessings waiting to be discovered. It whispers that within the darkest night, there is always potential for great light.

Virgo’s Influence
Now, this New Moon is in the sign of Virgo, and today we also step into Virgo season. Virgo is an Earth sign, rooted in the sacred qualities of service, purity, detail, and devotion to healing. Virgo teaches us to return to simplicity, to ground ourselves in the Earth, to honor our bodies as temples, and to bring sacred order to our lives.
Under this Virgo New Moon, we are asked to:
Examine the habits and patterns that shape our days.
Release what no longer supports our healing path.
Plant seeds of clarity, devotion, and sacred discipline.
Call in balance between service to others and care for ourselves.
Virgo’s energy is like a loving healer — precise, gentle, yet firm in guiding us toward what is healthy and harmonious. When we weave this with the amplified energy of the Black Moon, the call becomes even more powerful: to cleanse, to reset, to restore. This is a time to do spiritual cleaning, bless your home, sit in prayer, and reconnect with the rhythms of nature.

Black Moon Ritual
The Black Moon in Virgo is a time for deep resetting. This ritual is simple yet powerful, meant to align you with the sacred medicine of this rare Moon.
You will need:
A white candle (for clarity and purity)
A small bowl of water (to absorb and cleanse)
Fresh herbs or flowers (Virgo’s Earth medicine — lavender, rosemary, basil, or what you feel called to use)
A piece of paper and pen
A small stone or crystal (clear quartz, amethyst, or one that calls to you)
Steps:
Create your sacred space. Find a quiet place where you can sit in stillness. Place your candle, water, herbs, paper, and stone before you. Take three slow breaths, calling in peace with each inhale and releasing all tension with each exhale.
Light the candle. As the flame rises, speak aloud: “I call upon the light of Spirit to guide me in this sacred night. May this New Moon bring renewal, healing, and clarity.”
Cleanse with the herbs. Gently wave the herbs over your body, as if brushing away the old. Imagine any heavy energy, old patterns, or burdens dissolving into the earth. Place the herbs by your bowl of water when finished, symbolizing release.
Write your release. On the paper, write what you are ready to let go of — habits, fears, doubts, or anything that no longer serves you. Fold the paper and hold it over the bowl of water, saying: “With this Black Moon, I release what no longer serves my soul. May it be cleansed, transformed, and returned to the light.” Place the paper beneath the bowl or set it aside for later burning or burial.
Plant your intentions. Now, write down three intentions for this new cycle. Focus on Virgo qualities: clarity, healing, devotion, and sacred order. Hold the stone or crystal in your hand and speak your intentions aloud, allowing the energy to be infused into the stone. Keep this stone nearby in the days ahead as a reminder of your prayers.
Offer gratitude. Close by placing your hands over your heart. Speak words of thanks to the Moon, the Earth, and to Spirit for guiding you. Blow out the candle, knowing your intentions are carried forward.

A Prayer for the Black Moon
Beloved Creator, Divine Spirit,
On this sacred night,
We bow in gratitude.
I honor the cycles of the sky,
The rhythms of the Earth,
& the wisdom of the ancestors that live within me.
I ask that all heaviness be lifted from my spirit.
May old wounds, fears, and burdens be released into the arms of the Divine.
May the fertile darkness of this Moon transform them into light.
I call upon your healing medicine — purity, clarity, devotion, and service.
May these qualities blossom in my heart,
Guiding my steps with gentleness and purpose.
I plant my prayers like seeds in the soil of Spirit.
May they root deeply, grow strong, and bear fruit in the perfect time.
Bless my path, bless my family, bless all beings.
May we walk together in harmony, in truth, and in love.
In the name of the Great Spirit, so it is.

Words of Wisdom
Do not fear the darkness of the Black Moon. The darkness is not emptiness — it is fertile soil, rich with potential. It is the womb of creation, the mystery from which all life is born. In this sacred darkness, we are invited to listen deeply, to silence the noise, and to hear the quiet wisdom within our hearts.
As we enter a new season, may we also honor the medicine of the Earth. Virgo reminds us that healing comes through simplicity: a bowl of nourishing food, time spent with the soil, a quiet breath in nature, a prayer whispered with sincerity. These small acts are not small at all — they are powerful ways of aligning ourselves with Spirit.
During this time, try to create space for ceremony. Light a candle, speak your intentions aloud, and offer gratitude to the Earth and the Moon. Ask yourself: What am I ready to release? What new seeds am I planting for the path ahead? Where can I bring greater devotion, purity, and love into my life?
The Black Moon is an invitation to step into a new chapter with clarity, healing, and courage. Let us walk gently into this cycle with open hearts, trusting that Spirit is guiding us always.
~ Blessings!
