Medicine of the Heart

There is a medicine older than any plant, older than any prayer spoken aloud, older than the first ceremony ever offered to the four directions.
It is the medicine of the heart.
In my years walking this sacred path as a curandera & keeper of ancestral ways, I have witnessed many forms of healing – through herbs, crystals, water, fire, breath, sound, & sacred song. Yet beneath all of these medicines flows one current that gives them life … Love.
Not the fragile kind that comes & goes with circumstance, but the great, steady love that belongs to Spirit. The love that remembers who you are even when you have forgotten. The love that moves mountains quietly, from the inside outward.
This is heart medicine.

The Heart as a Sacred Altar
In Indigenous teachings, the heart is not only an organ that keeps the body alive, but an altar. It is where your prayers rise. It is where grief is held until it softens into wisdom. It is where the ancestors whisper when you grow quiet enough to listen.
So many people walk with hearts that have grown heavy from loss, betrayal, fear, exhaustion, & the constant noise of the world. Over time, the heart learns to protect itself by closing… But a closed heart cannot breathe, & when the heart cannot breathe, the spirit begins to ache.
Love is what re-opens the doors.
Love Is Strength
In this modern world, love is often mistaken for softness or vulnerability, but the love I speak of is fierce. It is disciplined & rooted.
To choose love when it would be easier to harden, that is courage.
To choose to forgive when the wound is still tender, that is power.
To choose to keep your heart open while the world tests you, that is mastery.
Our ancestors survived because they understood this truth … Compassion is not separate from strength, it is the source of it.
A heart guided by love can endure storms that fear cannot survive.

Love Moving Through the Body
When love flows freely, it does not stay only in the chest. It moves into the breath, softening tight ribs. It travels through the belly, calming the nervous system. It reaches the hands, turning them into instruments of blessing. It settles in the feet, reminding you that you belong to this Earth.
Many illnesses (whether emotional, spiritual, or physical) begin when energy becomes stagnant, when sorrow has nowhere to go, when anger remains unspoken, when grief is carried alone.
Love is movement. It loosens what has been bound. It warms what has gone cold. It brings circulation back to the soul.
This is why prayer heals. This is why ceremony works. This is why touch, song, water, & tears are sacred. Each one invites love to move again.
Ancestors in Heart Healing
You do not have to open your heart by yourself. Behind you stand generations of grandmothers & grandfathers who loved through wars, migrations, losses, & rebirths. Their courage lives in your blood, their tenderness in your cells.
When you sit quietly & place your hand over your heart, you are touching more than your own life, you are touching an entire lineage.
I often remind people in ceremony: your healing does not begin with you, & it will not end with you.
When you choose love over bitterness, softness over resentment, prayer over despair, you are healing backward & forward through time.
This is ancestral medicine.

Work with Heart Medicine
You do not need an elaborate plan to begin. Begin where you are.
Each morning, before the world reaches you, place both hands on your chest. Breathe slowly. Whisper gratitude to your heart for carrying you through another day.
Light a candle & dedicate it to love, love for your body, your ancestors, your children, your community, this Earth.
Honor the winged heart. A heart with wings is one of the most profound spiritual symbols across mystic traditions. It represents love that is free, courageous, & surrendered ... Love that belongs to the soul rather than the ego.
These small acts become ceremonies when performed with presence.
Remember … The heart recognizes sincerity more than perfection!

Words of Wisdom
The world does not need us to be flawless, it needs us to be loving.
Every time you choose compassion over judgment, gentleness over haste, listening over reacting, you become medicine for others … Even if you never speak a word about it. This is how healing spreads. Not through grand gestures alone, but through thousands of small moments in which the heart refuses to close.
Carry your love like a bundle of sacred herbs at your chest … Protect it, feed it, trust it. For when the heart remembers love, the spirit remembers home.
~ Blessings!
