Seeing Beyond Illusion (July Astrology)

As we step into the sacred month of July, the heavens are already speaking, inviting us into a season of both movement & reflection. The first few days of this month have carried several smaller astrological shifts that, together, have begun setting the stage for what lies ahead …

Mars joining Uranus in Gemini has stirred the winds of change, encouraging new ideas, unexpected conversations, & the courage to step beyond old ways of thinking.
Shortly afterward, Mars formed a harmonious connection with Pluto, offering the strength to transform challenges into opportunities for growth.
At the same time, the Sun's square to Saturn has reminded us that not everything can be rushed. Sometimes life asks us to pause, honor our responsibilities, & trust that patience is part of our spiritual practice.
These early transits are like the first rumble of thunder before the rain. They prepare the soil of our hearts for the deeper lessons arriving this week.
Neptune Retrograde in Aries
July 7, 2026

One of the most significant energies of this month begins as Neptune stations retrograde in Aries. Neptune is the planet of dreams, intuition, spirituality, imagination, & the veil between the seen & unseen worlds. When this mystical planet moves backward, its energy naturally turns inward, inviting us to examine the stories we have been telling ourselves & the beliefs that quietly shape our lives.
Aries is the sign of identity, courage, & new beginnings. Because this retrograde begins in Aries, we are being asked an important question … Who am I beneath the roles I have learned to play?
Many of us spend years defining ourselves through our careers, relationships, responsibilities, accomplishments, or even our hardships. While these experiences shape us, they are not the entirety of who we are. Neptune has a unique way of dissolving illusion, gently washing away the layers that no longer reflect our authentic spirit. Although this process can sometimes feel uncertain, it is ultimately an invitation to remember rather than to reinvent.
In many Indigenous traditions, there is an understanding that periods of stillness are just as sacred as periods of action. Nature never rushes her own cycles. A seed rests in darkness before it reaches toward the light, & every season has its purpose. Our ancestors understood that true vision comes not from constantly searching outward, but from learning to listen inward.
The Mayan teachings remind us that the heart is our first place of knowing. The mind seeks answers, but the heart remembers. During this retrograde, we are encouraged to become quiet enough to hear that deeper wisdom again. Dreams may become more vivid. Intuition may feel stronger. Long-forgotten memories or emotions may gently rise to the surface, not to burden us, but to be acknowledged with compassion.
If possible, spend time outdoors during this retrograde. Sit beside flowing water, walk among the trees, or simply watch the sky without needing anything from it. The Earth has always been one of our greatest teachers, & when the world becomes quiet, the Creator often speaks through the language of nature.
Venus Enters Virgo
July 9, 2026

Only two days later, the energy gently shifts once again as Venus enters the grounded & thoughtful sign of Virgo. While Neptune asks us to reconnect with our spiritual vision, Venus reminds us how to bring that vision into everyday life.
Venus governs love, beauty, relationships, creativity, abundance, & the values we hold closest to our hearts. In Virgo, these qualities become practical & deeply intentional. Love is no longer expressed only through grand declarations, but through consistent acts of care, service, presence, & devotion. This is the medicine of Virgo.
During the weeks ahead, many people may feel called to simplify their lives, organize their homes, strengthen healthy routines, nourish their bodies, or create greater balance in their relationships. These may seem like ordinary tasks, yet there is profound spiritual wisdom in tending to what is directly before us.
Indigenous teachings have long understood that ceremony is not limited to sacred spaces. Every action can become a prayer when performed with intention. Preparing a meal, sweeping the floor, watering a garden, offering gratitude before sunrise, or caring for another person are all expressions of sacred reciprocity. When we approach our daily lives with mindfulness, even the smallest acts become offerings to the Creator.
Venus in Virgo gently reminds us that perfection has never been the goal … It is presence.
The love we offer ourselves, our families, our communities, & the Earth is built one thoughtful choice at a time.
Walking with Clarity & Openness

Together, these powerful transits offer a beautiful balance. Neptune invites us to awaken spiritually by seeing beyond illusion, while Venus encourages us to embody that wisdom through our daily choices. One asks us to remember who we truly are. The other teaches us how to live from that place with humility, compassion, & integrity.
As July continues to unfold, allow yourself to slow down enough to notice what life is revealing. Spend time with the Earth. Listen more than you speak. Pay attention to your dreams, the movements of nature, & the quiet whispers of your own heart. Not every answer arrives through logic. Some truths are remembered only through presence.
Our ancestors remind us that every season carries its own medicine. This month invites us to clear away what no longer serves us so that our inner light may shine with greater clarity. May your path be guided by truth rather than illusion, by love rather than fear, & by the quiet wisdom that has always lived within you.
May you walk gently upon this Earth, honoring those who came before you while planting seeds of hope for the generations yet to come.
~ Blessings!
