Strawberry Full Moon Fire Blog

Tonight is the June Full Moon! This Full Moon is known as the Strawberry Moon and is particularly special this year because it is a Super moon! It will be the second Super Moon of 2022.

The name Strawberry Moon has been used by Algonquin, Ojibwe, Dakota, and Lakota peoples, among others, to symbolize the ripening of" June-bearing" strawberries that are ready to be gathered.

This Full moon is in Sagittarius, the fire sign's ruling element. It is a time of celebration with fires worldwide for Midsummer, or Summer Solstice and Litha. These fires were used fires for protective magic and offerings to the divine. In the summer, fires symbolize the amplitude of the sun's power and its peaking at this time of year.

Many Midsummer festivals begin around a week before June 21st! The Strawberry Full Moon is the perfect time for holding a fire ritual. If you have an outdoor space where a fire pit could be set up, invite your friends, family, and neighbors to enjoy this special celebration.

If holding a fire ritual or ceremony is not allowed in your area, you can light a candle to feel more connected to the divine energy and align yourself with the ancient Midsummer practices. You can burn the candle for three days. Leaving the candle lit in your home brings the protective magic of the flame into your home and removes negative energy.

Blessings of love and light! Wishing you all a wonderful Full Moon Tonight!
