September Astrology (2026)
September brings us into a different kind of energy. We are currently moving through Virgo season, a time traditionally of discernment, organization, health, service, & attention to the details of everyday life.
This is not a month for looking only at the big picture. Sometimes we have to look closely at what is directly in front of us ... Our habits, relationships, responsibilities. The way we speak to one another. The way we care for our bodies, our homes, our communities, & the Earth.
This week, several significant astrological movements occur within the same day, September 10th:
Venus enters Scorpio
Mercury enters Libra
Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini
New Moon arrives in Virgo
When several planets change signs or direction around the same time, it is time to pay attention. It can feel as though the heavens are asking us to pause &reconsider where we are putting our energy.

Virgo New Moon
The New Moon in Virgo gives us an opportunity to begin again through practical action. Virgo is an Earth sign, meaning it is concerned with what is useful, what is sustainable, & what needs our attention. It reminds us that our spiritual lives cannot be separated from the way we live each day.
It is easy to speak about transformation. It is another thing to change the habits that keep us from transforming.
A New Moon is traditionally a time to plant intentions. With Virgo, those intentions may be very simple ... Creating better routines, taking better care of the body, putting things in order, completing unfinished work, or becoming more disciplined about something that matters.
I believe we sometimes look too far away for the answer. Look at what is happening in the home. Look at what is happening in the community. Look at how the day begins & how it ends.
There is medicine in paying attention. The question for this New Moon is not necessarily, “What do I want to manifest?” ... But “What am I willing to tend?” Whatever we tend with consistency has a better chance of growing.

Venus Enters Scorpio
Venus moves into Scorpio on the same day, changing the tone around love, relationships, values, intimacy, & desire. Venus in Scorpio tends to go beneath the surface. It is less interested in appearances & more interested in what is true.
This can be a revealing period for relationships. Where there is trust, intimacy can deepen. Where there has been avoidance, jealousy, control, or dishonesty, those patterns may become harder to ignore.
Scorpio asks us to be honest about what we are carrying. Sometimes we hold onto relationships, situations, or old emotional patterns because they are familiar. But familiar does not always mean healthy. There is a difference between loyalty & remaining attached to something that has already completed its purpose.
This transit can also teach us about boundaries. Love does not mean abandoning discernment. Compassion does not require us to ignore what we know. Venus asks us to look honestly at what we value, & whether our relationships reflect those values.

Mercury Enters Libra
Mercury enters Libra, bringing attention to communication, cooperation, fairness, & the way we relate to one another. Libra is concerned with balance. Mercury here encourages us to think before we speak, to listen to another perspective, & to consider the consequences of our words.
This is important because the words we use carry energy. We are living in a time when people can communicate instantly, but that does not always mean we are communicating wisely. Mercury in Libra gives us an opportunity to slow down. Before responding, ask: Is this true? Is it necessary? Is it helpful?
We do not have to agree with everyone. Balance does not mean avoiding difficult conversations. Sometimes balance comes from having the courage to speak honestly while still respecting the humanity of the person standing across from us.
This is a good transit for conversations that require diplomacy & for finding a different way through an old disagreement.

Uranus Retrograde in Gemini
Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini on September 10th, beginning a period of internal review around our thinking, communication, information, & beliefs. Uranus is associated with disruption, innovation, awakening, & sudden changes in perspective. In Gemini, these themes can be particularly noticeable around the mind & the way information moves through our lives.
During the retrograde period, some of the changes may happen internally rather than externally ...
We may question ideas we have carried for years.
We may discover that something we once believed no longer makes sense to us.
We may become more aware of how much information we allow into our minds each day.
This deserves attention. Not everything we hear needs to be believed. Not everything we see needs to be repeated. There is an old wisdom in learning to discern what is worth carrying.
Uranus in Gemini can bring new ideas & new ways of thinking, but the lesson is not simply to accept something because it is new. The lesson is to remain awake enough to question, observe, & think for ourselves. Sometimes changing our mind is not weakness, sometimes it is evidence that we are still learning.

Four Movements, One Opportunity
This month unites these four energies together in an interesting way ...
The Virgo New Moon asks us to tend to what is practical & necessary,
Venus in Scorpio asks us to be honest about our relationships & values,
Mercury in Libra asks us to communicate with greater awareness & balance,
Uranus retrograde in Gemini asks us to examine our thinking & remain open to a different perspective.
I see a common thread here: Discernment.
Discernment is different from judgment. Judgment is often quick, but Discernment takes time. It asks us to observe before deciding. To listen before responding. To understand what is beneath the surface. This is especially important as we move into the changing season.
Returning to What Is Essential
There is a tendency in modern life to make everything complicated. We have endless information, endless opinions, endless things competing for our attention. But the Earth does not live this way ... The seasons change. Seeds are planted. Things grow. Things die back. The soil rests. The cycle begins again. There is order in nature even when we cannot see the entire pattern.
As we enter this September energy, I encourage us to pay attention to the places where life is asking for greater care. The astrology can give us a framework for reflection, but the work is ours. The planets do not make our choices for us, but they can help us recognize the season we are moving through. And this particular season asks us to look closely, tell the truth, make thoughtful changes, & tend to what we want to carry forward.
September is a good time to return to the essentials. Take care of what has been entrusted to you. Let your next step become clear through the way you live each day.
~ Blessings!
