Make Your Own Corn Husk Doll

Making corn husk dolls are a perfect fall activity for all ages!

Materials You Will Need:

  • Cut dried corn husks

  • Yarn

  • Wool felt for making the outfits (you can choose any color you'd like)

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Paper Towels

  • Twine

Step 1:

Soak the corn husk in water for around 8-10 minutes, then use the paper towels to dry and blot.

Step 2:

Lay an even number of corn husks down in a stack (4-6 husks is perfect)

Step 3:

Use the twine to tie your corn husks together

Step 4:

Separate husks into equal portions (2 & 2 or 3 & 3), and fold halves down, covering twine

Step 5:

Roll one husk and tie at the ends to make the arms

Step 6:

Position the arms below the knot at the neck, in between equal portions of husks

Step 7:

Tie at the waist of the doll.

Step 8:

For the hair, glue the yarn to the heads of the dolls. Fashion clothes from pieces of felt: Cut rectangles, and snip slits in the center; then slide over the doll's head, and secure around the waist with a strip of felt or yarn. (Glue on buttons, and use scissors to make fringe as desired.)

Happy Fall!

Blessings of Love and Light,
